GoChaeg | Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently (and infrequently) Asked Questions
- What is a GoChaeg?
GoChaeg which is pronounced go check is inspired by the korean word for book. At it's core GoChaeg is a simple phone book, maybe not so simple but a phonebook none the less.
- How does GoChaeg work?
GoChaeg works by shifting the responsibility of maintaining contact information to the people who actually own it.
You maintain your contact information and share that information with who you want, and your contacts do the same. When that information is updated, like magic, it is updated with everyone it is shared with.
- How does GoChaeg handle payment transaction?
GoChaeg does not store any our your payment information on our servers or process your payments ourselves. We use a third party payment processing service, Stripe.com to handle all transactions.
- Is my information secure?
We try very, very hard to do everything that we can to protect your information from falling into the wrong hands. We take numerous steps to secure it including encrypting any sensitive information before it is stored. Unfortunately until we perfect our precog system and are able to hunt down those who mean no good, no system will ever be perfect In the meantime to anyone looking to circumvent our systems for your own greedy means:
We don't know who you are. We don't know what you want. If you are looking for a ransom we can tell you we don't have any money, but what we do have are a very particular set of skill. Skills that make us a nightmare for people like you. If you don't try to hack our system, we will not look for you, we will not pursue you, if you do, we will look for you, will find you and we probably won't kill you, that's kind of harsh, but we will think of something.
- How many contacts can I have?
There are no limit to the number of people or groups that a user account can connect to. However for some group account limits are placed. For more on these limit please view the group pricing descriptions.
- Who can see my information?
Your information can only be viewed by yourself, the people you share your info with, the members of any group you share info with that has an open directory, and admins of groups with closed directories or list.
Also there are a select few trusted GoChaeg employees with admin privileges who may be able to view your information.

While GoChaeg should work properly on any major desktop or mobile browser we recommend the use of the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome for an optional experience.
We are also currently working on releasing native apps for Android and iOS platforms.
- Are there any hidden cost?
User accounts on GoChaeg are free. However a monthly charge will be issued to groups based on size and features.
- Do I have to worry about the monthly access fee for my group raising?
While the Gochaeg team maintains the right to raise the base price of group plans when necessary, the base price listed when you register your group account will be the price you pas as long as you maintain an active group at that group level.
- What is the secret of life?
We're not sure why you would think that we were qualified to answer this, but we'll give it a shot. We could just go with the obvious answer, 42, but that's more the answer to the ultimate question and who really knows what that is. Since this really is probably one of the most frequently asked questions there are already a lot of really good answer to choose from including, "resist nothing", "pay no attention to boundaries", "believe more, fear less", "fall seven times and get up eight", "protein" and "the only true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing".
Those are all good, but one that really sticks out to us is a quote from Steve Jobs
Most people never up the phone, most people never ask. And that what seperates sometimes, the people that do things from the peolpe that just dream about them, you gotta act.
So maybe the secret of life comes in just knowing that most valuable asset that you may own are 10 digits that came be scribbled on the edge of a sheet of paper, and when you need that asset don"t you want make sure it"s right. And of course be excellent to each other.
- Are accounts transferable?
While we greatly discourage the exchange of email addresses and passwords the GoChaeg and not expressly strongly enough how much we discourage the practice. Outside of that user accounts are not not transferable.
- What languages are GoChaeg supported in?
GoChaeg is currently only supported in English.
